The Browning Area Chamber of Commerce invites all visitors to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Northwestern Montana.  This area borders what the Blackfeet call the “Backbone of the World”, the magnificent Rockies, and this includes Glacier National Park, the "Crown of the Continent", which shares a border with Waterton Lakes National Park in southern Alberta, Canada.

Local folklore claims that the name "Pondera" comes from the French word "Pend d'Oreille", which means golden bread, as many of the native grasses in the area are a golden color. Today the production of wheat is the county's primary industry.  It's county seat is Conrad.
